South African productions have been nominated for five International Emmy Awards, one of which is the Springboks Rugby World Cup documentary Chasing The Sun 2.
The awards will take place in New York on 25 November.
‘CHASING THE SUN 2’ BAGS AN INTERNATIONAL EMMY AWARD
In a press statement this week, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences released the full nominations list for the International Emmy Awards.
The list includes 64 nominees across 16 categories from 26 countries.
One of them is Chasing the Sun 2, nominated for Best Sports Documentary. It reflects on the Springboks’ journey to the 2023 Rugby World Cup, which the national rugby team won for the fourth time.
Other nominations include…
- Showmax’s Afrikaans crime drama Koek is nominated for Best Drama Series.
- M-Net documentary, School Ties, which received a nomination for Best Documentary,
- Showmax thriller Catch Me a Killer earned a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress for Charlotte Hope.
MultiChoice’s children’s channel, Play Room, was nominated in the Kids: Factual and Entertainment category for Play Room Live.

After playing their final game in South Africa in Durban over the weekend, the Springboks will travel to these countries for the remainder of the 2025 test match series
