Not only does Charlotte Millar get almost twice the amount of snacks thanks to her hack, but it’s half the price too.

Posting on social media under the username @charlottexmillar, Charlotte, 31, shared her DIY snack hack that’s sure to leave you impressed.

The content creator confessed that her children love the viral Munch Boxes from M&S – but rather than constantly buying them at £10 a pop, she makes her own using cheap treats from Lidl.

The mum-of-two said: “Anyone else’s children obsessed with these Munch Boxes from M&S?

“Now, they’re £10 but they are so good, honestly.

“They bring them out at Easter and Christmas, I think.

“We get them as a wee treat whenever they do come out but I had a wee idea and I was thinking, you can make something like this at home.”

Eager to save cash on her food shop, Charlotte added: “You can make twice the amount that’s in this here for half the price.

“My children wouldn’t know any different to be honest with you – it’s the novelty of it all and then the mixture of having a wee variety.

“So I just thought I would go and grab some stuff to make our own.”

Showing off the M&S box, the brunette acknowledged: “In this are jelly beans, fruit jellies, chocolate popcorn, milk chocolate pretzels and chocolate caramel clusters that have popping candy inside – so there’s five different things in it and it comes to 580grams.

“I have grabbed a few bits that I’m gonna make and we’ll see how it goes.”

How to save money on Christmas shopping

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.

Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.

Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.

Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.

Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.

Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.

Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.

Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.

They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.

Charlotte got her hands on jelly beans, milk chocolate peanuts, salted pretzels, wine gums, and instead of chocolate popcorn, bought some chocolate bon bons from Lidl.

Filling up her M&S tin, the foodie continued: “You can probably actually fill this two or three times if you don’t want to put it all in at once.

The lid just about shuts, there’s so much – it’s like twice the weight, I actually think that’s class

“Actually, it all at once might be a bit much, but we’ll see how it goes.”

Thrilled with her DIY snack box which is great for parents on a budget, Charlotte explained: “The lid just about shuts, there’s so much – it’s like twice the weight, I actually think that’s class.

“920grams in those five compared to 580grams – so basically more or less twice the amount for half the price.”
