The punter’s slip included eight selections across Sunday’s Premier League and European action, all on both sides scoring but no draws.

Aston Villa got the ball rolling with a routine 3-1 win over Fulham, but the bet looked in serious trouble as the clock ticked into stoppage time in two crucial games – Livingston vs Rangers and Rizespor vs Kasimpasa – both locked at 1-1.

But then came the magic.

In Scotland, Max Aarons popped up with a stoppage-time winner for Rangers, before Mortadha Ben Ouanes did the same for Kasimpasa in Turkey – two late goals that rescued the acca and kept the dream alive.

Things were far calmer over in Belgium, where Gent comfortably dispatched Cercle Brugge 4-2, while Konyaspor edged out Istanbul Basaksehir 2-1 to tick off another leg.

That left three more results standing between the punter and the £38,754 payday. First up, Austria Vienna brushed aside Rapid Vienna with little fuss, before Stuttgart left it late to beat Koln with an 81st-minute strike.

It all came down to the final game – AC Milan vs Napoli – where the Rossoneri clung on to a 2-1 lead with 10 men for the final half-hour.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “On a typically busy Sunday slate of football, one customer has managed to well and truly pull a rabbit out of the hat to win over £38,000 from eight winning selections in a £30 accumulator.

“With dramatic late winners for Rangers and Kasimpasa to land the 1,291/1 acca, it’s a truly inspired punt, and not the kind of thing you’d see every day, so hats off!”
