Date set for Chinese food fair in Cape Town

The Western Province Chinese Association (WPCA) has announced the return of its popular food fair.

Every year, the WPCA hosts a food fair at its headquarters in Cape Town. Here, you can enjoy a wide range of delicious Chinese fare and be entertained by expertly choreographed dance performances.

Last year, thousands of visitors flocked to the WPCA Community Centre and soaked in the vibrant atmosphere that the fair had to offer.

CHINESE FOOD FAIR: DATE AND TIME CONFIRMED

Per a recent Facebook post shared by the WPCA, the food fair will take place from 9:00 to 14:00 on Sunday, 26 October 2025.

The Community Centre will once again serve as the venue for the event, which promises plenty of “food, fun and festivities”. It is located next to the Wild Fig Restaurant at 1 Liesbeek Avenue, Observatory.

Admission and parking are free to all visitors.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

At the fair, there will be several food stalls that serve an array of Chinese cuisine. Expect gua bao, boba tea, dim sum, fresh cakes and the ever-popular Peking duck, among other dishes, to be on the menu.

Keep in mind that queues for the food (especially the duck) get quite long. So, you can wile away the time by shopping at the grocery food booth, perusing the White Elephant stall, playing fair games on the lawn or buying some garden-ready plants.

There are also exquisite performances to look out for in the centre’s main hall, including the traditional dragon and lion dances.

EXPERIENCE THE ESSENCE OF CHINA AT FOOD FAIR

If you’re a foodie who loves authentic Chinese food, then be sure to head on down to the food fair in October.

Or if you just want to learn more about and appreciate Chinese culture – and support Cape Town’s Chinese community in the process – then the fair is a good place to start!
