Horse racing tips: ‘He travels, quickens and looks ready to strike’ – Templegate’s 9-2 Saturday NAP a course specialist

TEMPLEGATE tackles a massive Saturday of racing confident of bashing the bookies with a whole load of winners.

Back a horse by clicking their odds below.

PRINCE OF INDIA (3.00 Ascot, nap)

He has made giant strides this season, rattling up a sequence of handicap successes that included a smart success over this C&D in August. He proved his ability stepping into Listed level last time when third to the reopposing Elmonjed at York last month, staying on strongly, but his liking for Ascot can see him turn that form around. He travels, he quickens and looks ready to strike at this higher level.

MORROPHORE (1.30 Newmarket, nb)

She looks ready to score for the Gosdens. This daughter of Kingman looked a nice prospect in maidens last season and has done well since going into handicaps. After a comeback second at Southwell she was a convincing winner at Ascot last time on her first crack at this trip. She’s gone well on any ground and there’s a lot more to come.

FALLEN ANGEL (2.40 Newmarket, treble)

She can sprout wings in the Sun Chariot. She has been more than holding her own in Group 1 contests this season for in-form Karl Burke. After a decent third in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot she stepped up to this highest level when taking the Rothschild at Deauville before another excellent effort when winning the Matron at Leopardstown last month. Hopefully Newmarket gets the bit of rain forecast as good ground or softer is ideal but she relishes this trip and is hard to beat.

Templegate’s TV verdicts

ASCOT

1.15

BRIGHT THUNDER can cause a storm for in-form Karl Burke.

She has already struck at this level in France this summer and proved her form is holding with a fast-finishing second in the Group 3 Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster.

She handled the trip there and showed her trademark tenacity in the closing stages.

Conditions here will suit, she is versatile on all ground and is proven in this grade unlike some of her rivals.

Templegate’s Tote Placepot tips

There is £100,000 guaranteed at Ascot in the Placepot on Saturday.

LEG 1 Bright Thunder, Dash Of Azure

LEG 2 Cover Up, Candy
LEG 3 Hamish, Al Qareem
LEG 4 Prince Of India, Elmonjed
LEG 5 Balmacara, Great Acclaim
LEG 6 King Of Light, Roach Power

The dangers are headed by Cajole, who has shaped like a filly on the rise and brings strong form at a mile and shorter.

Flight is another with solid Group-race credentials but she needs to bounce back after a disappointing effort at Sandown.

Miss Nightfall also shaped well at Doncaster when asked to come from a mile back.

Sunfall is a course scorer with Listed-winning form to her name, while Circios is unexposed and still open to improvement.

Dubai Treasure has something to find at this level, while Magic Basma needs this longer trip to work wonders.

1.50

COVER UP proved his liking for this track with a tidy win over this trip in July and backed it up when a close fourth in the Group 3 World Trophy at Newbury last time.

That run showed he belongs at this level and a return to a stiff 5f on ground he handles gives him every chance.

He travels strongly, sees it out well and comes here nice and fresh after two starts in three months.

Beautiful Diamond is a major threat after a dominant Listed win at Ayr, making all and not looking in danger.

He was second in this race last year.

Shagraan has been ultra-consistent this season and won’t mind what the weather does.

Candy arrives off a big-field Ayr Silver Cup win and has scope to improve although the drop in trip is a worry.

Woolhampton is another course winner who shouldn’t be underestimated at long odds if things drop right.

2.25

HAMISH has won an amazing ten of his 11 starts at this Group 3 level on turf including this race in 2022.

The evergreen nine-year-old has lost none of his ability, returning with a smooth win at Goodwood in June before following up at Chester last month.

He thrives over this trip, could well get the testing ground he loves and will be right there again.

Al Qareem is the obvious danger having taken this race for the past two years.

A relentless pace pusher, he arrives after another solid Irish St Leger effort and will make this a proper test from the front.

The 3lb he gives to the tip could be telling. Military Academy has chased Hamish home already this season and is consistent, though he should again find him too strong.

Tenability is a three-year-old on the up, rattling off four wins on the bounce, and this sharp rise in class will tell us plenty about his ceiling.

Sir Dinadan was fifth in the Irish Derby before a poor run in softer ground at Goodwood last time and he can’t be written off.

PRINCE OF INDIA has made giant strides this season, rattling up a sequence of handicap successes that included a smart success over this C&D in August.

He proved his ability stepping into Listed level last time when third to the reopposing Elmonjed at York last month, staying on strongly, but his liking for Ascot can see him turn that form around.

He travels, he quickens and looks ready to strike at this higher level.

Elmonjed sets a clear standard after that Listed win at York and will be a major player if in the same form.

The slight worry is the ground as he’s done best in quick conditions.

Last year’s winner Apollo One arrives in form after an excellent Portland second at Doncaster and is another with strong course credentials.

Annaf has the class to figure if breaking on terms – but that’s far from certain and he missed it at Haydock last time.

Quinault is a York Group 3 winner who could bounce back to form with the drop in trip in his favour.

Run Boy Run brings momentum from his Ayr Gold Cup triumph and is another who will go from the front.

He did get the best of the draw in Scotland though.

Jabaara and Celandine both have some smart form on their CVs but have been a little below par lately and need their old spark.

3.35

BALMACARA can give the excellent Eve Johnson-Houghton another nice prize.

He enjoyed stepping up to Listed level when second on soft at Sandown last time.

He goes handicapping again from a reduced mark and has lots of pace for this shorter trip.

The more rain that falls the better his chance as testing ground is right up his street.

Native Warrior arrives off a career-best when landing a hot handicap here last month and is right at home in a big field.

He likes being held up so may need a little luck under Jamie Spencer.

Great Acclaim chased him home there and has been admirably consistent all summer with two wins. He should be in the mix again.

Thunder Roar showed a good turn of foot at Ayr and is another live player, while Hickory is a proven Ascot specialist who always demands respect in these hot handicaps.

Rahmi has been rejuvenated this year and comes here in top form from Ireland, while Two Tribes is another who likes a big field and is respected.

NEWMARKET

MORROPHORE looks ready to score for the Gosdens.

This daughter of Kingman looked a nice prospect in maidens last season and has done well since going into handicaps.

After a comeback second at Southwell she was a convincing winner at Ascot last time on her first crack at this trip.

She’s gone well on any ground and there’s a lot more to come.

Wonder Star didn’t fire at York last time but ran a cracker at Glorious Goodwood and could easily bounce back for in-form William Haggas.

Blessed Star’s form figures speak for themselves with a long run of placed efforts but no win. It would be no surprise to see her in the frame again.

Princess Rascal didn’t enjoy the all-weather at Kempton last time but had earlier gone close at Windsor over this trip and is in the hunt for a place again.

Chic Colombine has her sights lowered after a modest Group 3 effort last time out.

2.05

ACCIDENTAL BID looks a tempting each-way price in this wide-open contest.

We have seen Harrison Shaw’s colt just once when running a very promising second at Thirsk 36 days ago.

The time of that effort was good and he’s entitled to take a sizeable step forward today.

His high draw should suit and he can go close.

Karl Burke does well with his juveniles and Half Sovereign sets the form standard.

He made it four wins in a row when striking in good company at Doncaster last time and is a strong stayer.

He’s likely to go from the front and will battle it out.

Jel Pepper ran a solid race in one of these valuable contests at Donny last time on the back of excellent efforts at Naas and here.

He should be suited by this stiffer test.

Colori Forever showed lots of zip when winning on debut at Yarmouth and is already proven over this distance so should be thereabouts again.

True Test wasn’t disgraced in a French Group 2 before going close over this trip at Newbury last time.

A repeat of that would see her in the reckoning.

Blakefell is another at an each-way price with a chance. He got no luck in running at Doncaster last time and looks made for this distance.

2.40

FALLEN ANGEL can sprout wings in the Sun Chariot.

She has been more than holding her own in Group 1 contest this season for in-form Karl Burke.

Cinderella’s Dream will be happy back here after a slightly disappointing effort in France.

She won the Dahlia and Falmouth on the two tracks here this season and clearly loves the place.

She’d like the ground to stay on the quick side.

Lady Of Spain took a big step up to win the Atalanta at Sandown last time.

This is tougher again but she likes this trip and is on the upgrade.

Blue Bolt was a length behind her last time and will prefer today’s likely quicker ground.

Cheshire Dancer looks a big each-way price after a cracking effort at Churchill Downs 35 days ago.

She won an Ascot Group 3 before that in a fast time and could easily hit the frame.

REDCAR

3.20

SONG OF THE CLYDE can sail home.

He’s progressed rapidly since midsummer, winning a valuable sales race at York and then running a stormer when narrowly denied in another big one at Doncaster, only headed close home after attempting to make all into a headwind.

His blend of speed and toughness makes him ideal for Redcar’s 6f and he has shown he can handle both quick and easier going.

He’s well drawn and is hard to fault.

Argentine Tango ran a good race at Ayr last time and likes this trip on soft. She’s proven at Group level.

Ardisia has thrived in nurseries, including an impressive Ayr success, and looks ready for Listed company.

Isle Of Fernandez ran a cracker in the Firth of Clyde and remains on the upgrade.

Hollywood Treasure has done little wrong in her short career and shouldn’t be underestimated while Arduis Invicta is experienced and but may just prefer 5f.
