Darts star Luke Humphries reveals hidden passion and wants to show it off on BBC TV show

LUKE HUMPHRIES has opened up on the surprising talent that he hopes might one day take him onto a beloved BBC TV show.

The world darts No. 1 was speaking ahead of next week’s darts World Grand Prix when he revealed his little-known skill that could see him swap the dart board for a chopping board.

Speaking to Boyle Sports, Humphries said: “There’s so many things about my life that I think everyone knows about.

“The only thing that maybe fans wouldn’t know is that I really like doing is cooking. I love cooking, I’m a really good cook.”

Humphries elaborated that the hobby helps him relax amid his jet-setting lifestyle on Tour with the PDC.

He continued: “It’s hard on the road, it’s really hard but when I’m at home I always cook the dinners, fresh dinners and I’m a pretty good chef to be honest.

“Anything pasta wise is my speciality, I’m good at carbonara but haven’t quite mastered lasagna yet.

“It’s a sense of enjoyment for me for the fact of I miss it when I’m away.

“When I get home, if you’ve been away for seven days, you’d think the first thing you’d want to do is be on the sofa and relax, but the first thing I can’t wait to do when I get home is cook dinner and get back to normality which is something that strangely, I miss when I’m away.”

The 30-year-old also revealed that he would be interested in showing off his talent on the small screen.

He said he would be open to an appearance on BBC cooking show MasterChef, or at least its celebrity spinoff.

“I think MasterChef is the one that I’d do if I’m honest, not Bake-Off, I’m not the best baker if I’m honest.

“Definitely MasterChef, if I keep practicing maybe one day I could get on it, maybe Celebrity MasterChef!”

For now though he will have to keep his eyes on the prize as he competes for the £120,000 jackpot at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester next week.

He kicks his tournament off with a match against Nathan Aspinall on Monday.
