XAVI SIMONS baffled Spurs fans when he tried to play a teammate in behind with an outrageous rabona – and failed miserably.
The Dutch attacking midfielder found himself in space on the edge of Leeds‘ box during the second half of their Premier League clash at Elland Road.

His momentum was taking him away from goal, but he had overlapping options from Rodrigo Bentancur and Mathys Tel.
Yet rather than trusting his weaker left foot, the 22-year-old attempted to wrap his right foot around his standing leg and rabona the ball to one of his attacking partners.
Which was the intended target we may never know, as the result was a limp effort that rolled straight towards the thankful defender Joe Rodon.
Spurs fans were fuming with the decision, which occurred as the game was balanced on a knife edge at 1-1 just minutes into the second period.
One fan compared the move to a former Spurs star’s Puskas award-winning rabona, saying: “Xavi Simons You aren’t Erik Lamela. Please never do that again.”
Another questioned his decision, asking: “What was Xavi Simons thinking?”
A third fan was especially displeased, saying: “Xavi Simons is an idiot. What the hell was that???!”
And a rival fan chimed in with: “You ain’t got that Rabona in your locker, Xavi Simons.”

The first half of the match had been a thriller, with Spurs taking an early lead through a deflected Tel effort.
Leeds would pile on the pressure in response, and some brilliant hold-up play from Dominic Calvert-Lewin would help craft the breakthrough, with Noah Okafor tapping home into an empty net from a rebound.
And Simons would see his blushes saved by Mohammed Kudus, with the Ghanaian earning the North Londoners the lead just five minutes after his trick-shot fiasco.
