THE M62 is closed and a man has died following a car crashing into a barrier during a 1am police chase.
The motorway is closed between Junction 28 and 29 today after a fatal collision in the early hours of the morning, police said.
A black Mercedes failed to stop for West Yorkshire Police on the motorway at 12:52am.
The force authorised a pursuit and a short time later, the vehicle smashed into a barrier when attempting to take an exit slip road.
A man in his 30s, the only person in the car, died at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and specialist officers are providing support.
Police have urged anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any information on the events leading up to it to get in touch.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
