Posting on social media, a bargain hunter who is currently “creating a dopamine decor home,” explained how she brightened up her front garden without breaking the bank.
Thanks to a cheap buy from Amazon, the content creator was able to hide her “ugly meter box” and create a super “cute” display.
Alongside a short clip shared online, the DIY enthusiast explained: “I will be painting the meter box but still hate the fact that it’s on the front of my house…It’s so ugly.”
The woman confirmed that she ordered a garden planter for just £26 from Amazon, which she then decorated and stuck in front of her meter box.
She continued: “I bought a flat pack garden planter, painted it pink and proceeded to get carried away making it super cute.”
Thrilled with her simple but effective trick, she added: “It definitely covers up the ugly box.”
Showing off her front garden display, which she filled with pretty pink plants, the user beamed: “I’m not ready for autumn or winter, I want the sun to carry on shining.”
Not only did she add plants to the purse-friendly buy, but she also painted a sweet summery scene on it too – with sweet strawberries, bumblebees and flowers.
At the time of writing, the TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @pinkhome1978, had clearly impressed many as it had quickly racked up 39,600 views.
But social media users were left totally divided by the DIY hack – while some thought it was “beautiful,” not everyone was as complimentary.
One user gushed: “Beautiful planter.”
A second chimed in: “What a lovely difference that makes! Your eyes are drawn to how lovely it looks, not the meter box. Well done.”

Looked better before. Too cluttered

“Plus it will need to be moved each time the meter has to be read. Too cluttered.”
Meanwhile, another agreed and added: “Looked better before. Too cluttered.”
To this, the DIY fan responded and wrote back: “Thank you for your comment. I like it and that’s what matters. Have a good day.”
