POUNDLAND have dramatically saved three of its stores that were set to close this week.
The bargain retailer have secured new lease agreements in Livingston, Musselburgh and Porthcawl to keep the stores open.

The three stores had begun extensive clearances as they prepared to close, under the company’s restructuring and recovery plan.
The stores are currently closed but will re-open later this month.
They will reopen on the following dates:
- Porthcawl, 78/80 John Street, Porthcawl, CF36 3BD, October 11 2025
- Livingston, Unit 43F, Almondvale South, Livingston, EH54 6NB, October 13 2025
- Musselburgh, 176B The High Street, Musselburgh, EH21 7DZ, October 17 2025
Three further Poundland stores will now begin extensive clearance sales this week as they prepare for closure.
Stores in Andover, Blackpool and Sidcup will offer reductions of up to 40%, with items marked down in price until they’re sold.
These stores are closing on the October 22 , October 25 and November 14 respectively.
The sales will cover all the stock in each store, from home wares to groceries and clothing to health and beauty.
Poundland finalised its 68-store closure programme last month, closing 57 stores by 28 September.
The discount chain has already closed stores in Twickenham, Leicester and Burnley.
With further closures in Leicester, Walsall and Carlisle set to take place in October and November.
The retailer still expects to operate a network of around 650-700 stores compared to the 800 at the beginning of the restructuring programme.
The firm avoided collapsing into administration after its plan was approved by the High Court in August.
After being sold to private equity firm, Gordon Brothers in June, the group revealed they planned to invest £90 million into the business after taking it over.
However, they plan to cut 1,000 jobs from the 14,700 staff and shutting two warehouses, affecting 350 workers.
Other changes at Poundland
Shoppers can no longer use the Poundland website to buy products.
It’s loyalty scheme, Poundland perks has also been axed
Poundland Perks customers have until January 15 2026, to use their reward vouchers.
The chain will also close its frozen and digital distribution centre in Darton, South Yorkshire later this year.
Bilston national distribution centre will also be shut in early 2026.
The closure of stores and company restructuring is seeing the company go back to basics, increasing the number of £1 products it sells in stores.
The bargainer has ensured that 60% of grocery items will be sold for £1.
Over the coming months, Poundland will extend its new pricing simplicity to its general merchandise and clothing ranges, offering fewer price points and more focused ranges.
This will allow customers to get more value on offer.
Poundland’s retail director Darren MacDonald said: “The special reductions, on top of the value we provide in every store, will help us leave locations we’re leaving with pride.
“And when we close our doors, we look forward to welcoming customers to one of the hundreds of Poundland stores we’ll continue to operate right across the UK.
