Gauteng residents can expect a mix of warm and rainy conditions over the next two days as the South African Weather Service forecasts light showers and partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will remain moderate, bringing relief after several warm days.
Forecaster Mpho Rasimphi said the province could experience “scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms moving across the central parts of the country.” He explained that although rainfall will not be widespread, it could still affect areas around Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Rasimphi added that “driving conditions may become difficult due to slippery roads and reduced visibility,” urging motorists to exercise caution, especially during the evening commute.
Temperatures to cool down after warm conditions
The forecast indicates that Johannesburg’s temperatures will range from 26°C, while Pretoria may reach a high of 29°C.
Cooler air is expected to move in by Thursday, bringing slightly lower nighttime temperatures. “It’s going to be a mix of warm days and cooler evenings as the weather pattern shifts,” said Rasimphi.
Safety advice for road users
Authorities have reminded the public to drive carefully as visibility could be reduced, particularly overnight.
Rasimphi emphasised, “We’re advising motorists and pedestrians to remain alert because even minor showers can make the roads slippery.”
