She chose Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr and Cat Burns to become deceitful Traitors.
The trio were shocked when Claudia said they wouldn’t be “murdering” a Faithful on the first night.
Instead, they were given the tough task of “murdering” a fellow contestant in plain sight.
One viewer wrote on X: “A plain sight murder already!!”
Another added: “Murder in plain sight, first task for the traitors“, while sharing a laughing GIF.
A third said: “I can’t wait for Alan Carr to somehow mess up this murder task.”
The Traitors later learned they would commit this murder by touching their choice’s face.
However, the instalment ended on a cliffhanger – meaning a wait to see who was selected.
The famous faces were thrown into the deep end with a brutal opening challenge.
Initially driven to Ardross Castle, they got a huge shock when instead taken to a graveyard.
The site had 19 graves, while each had one of the celebrities’ names on it.
Claudia explained each grave contained a shield to give protection for the first murder.
However, there were only six of the coveted shields up for grabs.
Jonathan – who had not yet been selected as a Traitor – found the first shield.
Joe Marler, Joe Wilkinson, Charlotte Church and Kate Garraway soon followed suit.
Lastly, Celia Imrie secured the final shield – with an assist from Nick Mohammed.
The maximum available prize pot in The Celebrity Traitors is £100,000.
How does The Traitors work and who hosts it?
The Traitors first launched in the UK in 2022, after the Dutch format was acquired by the BBC.
Claudia Winkleman is the show’s host, and has now hosted all three series to date.
How does it work?
It is a reality game show that involves 22 contestants, and some of them are chosen to be The Traitors.
The Traitors sees a group of contestants taking part in “the ultimate game of truth and deception”.
The group of contestants are competing for the chance to walk away with a huge cash prize.
While navigating through a series of challenges, the team are also tasked with figuring out who the Traitors are in the group (usually three contestants).
Each night, the Traitors gather to “eliminate” one of the Faithful, removing them from the competition
Meanwhile, the traitors can be “banished” if they’re successfully outed as a traitor by a faithful.
The winners of the show are either the Traitor who remains undetected or the Faithfuls if they successfully eliminate all the Traitors.
The prize sees the winner could get £120K.
In the civilian version, contestants take home the cash jackpot themselves.
This time around, the celebrities are competing to win the prize for a charity of their choice.
The final amount is determined by the celebrities’ success in completing challenges throughout the series.
It is split among the winning players at the end — just like the regular show.
