Aldi brings back posh steak after 6 YEARS – and it’s half price of Waitrose

ALDI has set the stakes (read: steaks) high and re-introduced its popular Wagyu Ribeye.

The food giant has delighted meat-lovers and brought back its luxury Wagyu range.

The sought-after steak comes in at just £8.49 for 8oz, making it half the price of Waitrose alternative at £16.

The tempting details read: “Proper lush Britain.

“Raised on lush British grass and finished on a carefully-balanced grain diet, this Wagyu beef is the real deal.

“The marbling is next level, giving it that melt-in-your-mouth flavour that’s just unreal.

“The small-scale farms behind it treat their cattle like royalty, which is why every bite is proper juicy, proper rich and just plain banging.”

Natasha Bloom, Warrendale Wagyu expert says: “Supplying top quality British Wagyu to Aldi since 2020, this family-run business collaborates with the best British farms across the UK producing luxury Wagyu.

“We make sure the cattle receive the best care and attention and are reared for longer.

“That intensifies the flavour and marbling, for a delicious melt-in-the-mouth, indulgently rich and buttery taste.”

The store advises: “Did you know letting the beef rest for five minutes before slicing ensures the juices are evenly distributed for tender steak every time.”

The steaks have historically been big sellers for the German supermarket – who are also offering Wagyu beef burgers and Wagyu beef meatballs and Wagyu mince.

Wagyu is the generic name for beef in Japan, but it has to be reared and fed in line with strict guidelines.

Kobe beef, which is even more expensive, is a type of Wagyu raised in the Hyogo province of Japan.

One of the fancy burgers could set you back about £45 in a high-end restaurant.

Earlier in the year, foodies raced to the grocers to stock up on their Wagyu beef dripping.

Elsewhere, on the run-up to Christmas, Aldi has launched the price war early, saying it “won’t be beaten on price” on a range of its dinner centrepieces.

The discount supermarket has guaranteed to match the lowest prices for equivalent products from its major rivals.

The products included in the price match include Perfect Christmas Fresh Whole Turkey, Perfect Christmas Whole Salmon, Ashfields British Beef Roasting Joint, Ashfields British XL Pork Leg Joint, Oakhurst New Zealand Fresh Whole Leg of Lamb, Ashfields British Boxed Gammon and Oakhurst Prime Gammon.

Among the new additions are the Specially Selected Raspberry and Pistachio Yule Log, the Lobster Mac & Cheese and the Perfect Christmas Musical Biscuit Tin.

If you’re wanting to complete your Christmas roast, they also have Double-Wrapped Pigs in Blankets, Ashfields British Loaded Yorkshires and Ultimate Wagyu Fat Roast Potatoes.

It was recently crowned the cheapest supermarket by consumer site Which?.

This was based on a basket of common 71 items.
