Gareth Cliff’s reaction to US President Donald Trump’s decision to exclude South Africa from the 2026 G20 Summit has irked many social media users.
This comes after the outspoken podcaster was condemned for his comments on the summit, which took place in Sandton last weekend.
Trump refused to attend this year’s convention and has barred President Cyril Ramaphosa from coming to next year’s one in Florida, on the basis of allegations that the country is “killing” white people.
GARETH CLIFF TROLLED OVER REACTION TO G20 SUMMIT
On Wednesday, 26 November, President Trump shared a post on his Truth Social, uninviting South Africa from the 2026 G20, which will be hosted in Florida, Miami.
He posted: “South Africa has demonstrated to the World they are not a country worthy of membership anywhere. And we are going to stop all payments and subsidies to them, effective immediately.”
Trump stated that this was due to debunked claims that the country is “killing white people, and randomly allowing their farms to be taken from them”.
Responding to the bombshell post, Gareth Cliff simply replied, “Oh.”
This comes days after the former 5FM shock jock predicted the G20 Summit in Sandton would be a disaster, a claim that was ridiculed by Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) DDG, Clayson Monyela.
Gareth Cliff’s post was inundated with comments from South Africans who accused him of spreading disinformation.

SIZWE DHLOMO THROWS SHADE TOO
It wasn’t just the public who criticised Gareth Cliff for his polarising views; fellow radio personality Sizwe Dhlomo did too.
The Kaya FM presenter reacted to a post by AfriForum leader Kallie Kriel’s X post, blaming DIRCO minister Ronald Lamola for Trump’s comments about South Africa.

Sizwe clapped back: “Nothing unfortunate about this. You and @GarethCliff are just idiots, that’s about it. 🤷🏽♂️:”
Sizwe added about Gareth Cliff: “He’s always been a loser. Even when he was still at 5 [FM]. When he tweeted that nonsense about Manto Msimang’s death, I called him out as well. That was 16 years ago!”
Sizwe is referring to Gareth’s controversial 2009 X post about the death of former Minister of Health Manto Tshabalala-Msimang.
He tweeted: “Manto is dead. Good. A selfish and wicked bungler of the lowest order. Rotten attitude and rancid livers — all three of them”.
Gareth refused to retract his post, defending it as “freedom of speech”.
