Kanye West’s Ye Live concert in Johannesburg has been postponed, despite promoters Monyake Group insisting that everything was going as planned.
The show will reportedly be rescheduled for a future date under a different management company.
The US rapper was billed to perform at Ellis Park Stadium on 13 December. Tickets -which were priced between R850 and R5000 – can be refunded via TicketPro.
KANYE WEST CONCERT OFFICIALLY POSTPONED
On Monday, 1 December, the Monyake Group issued a statement confirming they were no longer facilitating Kanye West’s Ye Live concert.
It read: “The show has been officially transferred to Yeezy Production, who will take over all future planning, communication, and execution of the event. This transition forms part of a wider strategic direction regarding the production and delivery of the show.
“The public is advised to await an official announcement from Ye’s platforms, where updated details about the new show date will be communicated.”
According to event curator Jay Carson, the postponement was due to “a much larger national and international production.
“It allows the production to expand into a bigger vision. Including the development of a nationally backed concert formally endorsed by the country”, Carson shared in his own statement.
