Former Bafana Bafana left-back Tsepo Masilela has backed Percy Tau to join Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.
The 31-year-old forward has been linked to Amakhosi since he left Qatar last month. The former Al Ahly star is a free agent and admitted he would be open to join Chiefs.
“You know, he [Percy Tau] is a true professional. In big teams, you also want to have a couple of guys who are experienced like him, and the younger boys can look up to them,” Masilela said on SoccerBeat.
“A team like Kaizer Chiefs needs the quality of Tau’s calibre, to be honest, not just pace, but if they can also get a few players who will push them closer to competing with Mamelodi Sundowns. Orlando Pirates have been finishing second; it will push them closer in that bracket, in my opinion.
Will Percy Tau join Kaizer Chiefs?
Masilela feels Tau can add more to Amakhosi given his experience and goal contribution.
“He makes good runs. But at Kaizer Chiefs, you would look at the goal contribution from the wingers because that also counts in modern games.”
“For example, Glody Lilepo scored six goals, having joined them halfway through the season,” Masilela said.
Kaizer Chiefs are yet to respond to Percy Tau links.
