ANDY Burnham has been branded a “political weather vane” by colleagues for flip flopping on his economic views.
Manchester’s mayor spooked investors with a leftie call to end UK dependence on foreign lenders this week.

“We’ve got to get beyond this thing of being in hock to the bond market,” he said amid speculation he is desperate for a Westminster return.
But in recently resurfaced videos when he ran as Labour leader ten years ago he said they must show “strong and stable finances”.
He blamed Labour’s 2015 election defeat on their loss of “economic credibility”.
And said they must show they can run “strong and stable” public finances.
In another interview he said: “Labour won’t win in 2020 unless we can convince people that we can be trusted with the economy.”
One Labour source said: “He is a political weathervane – he blows with the wind.”
Another added: “He’s agreed with so many different views, he’s forgotten his own mind.”
It comes as a fresh poll shows Mr Burnham’s personal approval rating far outstripping Sir Keir Starmer by 51 points.
However, the mayor trails Nigel Farage on who would make the best prime minister.
James Crouch, from pollster Opinium, said: “While Andy Burnham has been touted as a potential successor [to Sir Keir], our polling suggests he is far from a silver bullet when it comes to taking on Nigel Farage.
