Monyake Group – the concert promoter claiming to be bringing Kanye West to South Africa in December for one night only – is accused of not paying hired help for a previous show.
The company is helmed by businessman Samuel Monyake.
Despite rampant rumours that the US rapper’s show is a “scam,” the company has claimed that everything is above board. Tickets to Ye’s show will reportedly go on sale on Tuesday, September 23rd.
KANYE WEST CONCERT PROMOTER ACCUSED OF NON-PAYMENT
On its Instagram account, which has less than 500 followers, the Monyake Group attempted to assure the public that the Kanye West concert was legit.
The US rapper is scheduled to perform on 13 December at Ellis Park Stadium (now Emirates Airline Park).
However, many Ye fans have expressed their doubt about the company and the possibility of the artist coming to the country.
Among the comments that were posted – and deleted – on one of their posts was from a woman who accused the company of not paying for her services.

Dimpho Thuhloane – @realdimpho – claimed that Monyake Group had not paid her for her work on a previous show.
She posted: “We did the Chandler Moore show with him in Durban, and we weren’t paid for the gig. Nor were the resources up to par”.

When contacted by The South African, Dimpho revealed that she was part of the media and admin team for gospel singer Chandler Moore’s Durban leg of his SA tour.
Dimpho stated that the Monyake Group company was legit. However, she had had her “fair share of bad experiences” with it.
The South African has contacted Monyake Group for comment. An update will be provided once received.
RED FLAGS?
The woman’s comment was not lost on social media users, with one X user – Zinhlezenkosiz – calling it a “red flag”.
Other concerns about the company – and their claims that they are bringing Kanye West to South Africa – include:
- Monyake Group’s vague website and Instagram account have a handful of followers and posts.
- The only contact details on the concert flier are an email address
- There is no word about the concert by TicketPro or from Ellis Park.
- Kanye has not mentioned the concert on his Instagram accounts
