September 2025 SASSA Child Support Grants are disbursed today – Thursday 4 September 2025. However, beneficiaries have expressed anxiety over losing their grants after recent measures by the agency. Currently, Child Support pays out R560 per month to eligible parents.
Principally, the income limit has been increased and the agency is taking a stricter approach to eligibility. It will withhold your grant first and then ask beneficiaries to verify their accounts in-person. At which point the agency has introduced mandatory biometric enrolment for parents and children.
SEPTEMBER 2025 SASSA CHILD SUPPORT GRANTS
Moreover, September 2025 SASSA Child Support Grants go out to the most people in South Africa – approximately 14 million. Therefore, it is the most expensive grant the South African Social Security Agency disburses each month. Other Childcare grants include, SASSA Care Dependency, Foster Child and the Top-Up scheme for orphaned/disabled children.
However, the Department of Social Development (DSD) has amended its recovery processes for irregular payments. Basically, the agency is tightening its belt after it came to light that funds were being paid to ‘long-dead people,’ plus, tens of thousands receiving grants while earning extra income on the side.
HOW TO ACE THE INCOME TEST

As such, recipients may have their September 2025 SASSA Child Support Grants suspended if their income exceeds R67 200 (if single) and R134 300 (if married). That is R5 600 per month (if single) and R7 780 per month (if married). If you misrepresented yourself in your initial application, you could lose your September 2025 SASSA Child Support Grants.
Likewise, another issue getting in the way of successful SASSA Childcare delivery is a lack of documentation. Whether it be personal identity documents or birth certificates for the child in question. Likewise, while not an outright prerequisite, SASSA wants to see that the child is being put through school. If not, your SASSA Child Support grant may be at risk.
COMMON REASONS TO LOSE SEPTEMBER 2025 SASSA CHILD SUPPORT GRANTS
