SASSA Child Support Grants in October 2025 are not increasing. Plus, to add insult, childcare beneficiaries will have to wait even longer than other grant recipients to receive their funds next month.
Due to the current calendar, SASSA Child Support Grants in October 2025 have had to be pushed back into the second week of the month – Monday 6 October 2025. Plus, the nominal R10 increase to all ‘core’ SASSA beneficiaries will not apply to those with children under the age of 18.
ZERO INCREASES TO SASSA CHILD SUPPORT GRANTS IN OCTOBER 2025
Unfortunately, the October SASSA increase to Old-Age, Disability and others, does not apply to Child Support. While Childcare Dependency (disability for under 18s), does enjoy the same R10 increase as other ‘core’ clients, to R2 320.
Sadly, the South African Social Security Agency did not see fit to increase the R560 Child Support Grant next month. Nor do Foster Child Grants increase. Following above-inflation increases in April 2025, the grant has become the costliest to the Department of Social Development (DSD). Because it is paid to more than 13-million residents, it is even costlier than SRD.
SASSA GRANTS WITHHELD
Moreover, the agency is working hard to eliminate any unnecessary SASSA Child Support Grants in October 2025. It is doing so by reviewing any account without valid ID and/or suspect income. We recently reported of a mother who had here SASSA grant reviewed when she got a new job.
Due to the agency’s improved financial tracking systems, it picked up immediately when her income had increased beyond the acceptable limit. She was forced to repay the monies owed and will not be getting her grant till further notice. There are various plans in place to repay SASSA.
HOW TO APPLY FOR SASSA CHILD SUPPORT GRANTS IN OCTOBER 2025
Nevertheless, if you do want to apply for SASSA Child Support Grants in October 2025, here’s how you go about it:
- You must prove you earn less than R8 800 per month if married (R105 600 annually).
- And earn less than R4 400 per month if single (R52 800 annually).
- Bring along valid identity documents all applicants (child and spouse, if married).
- Proof of marital status (marriage, birth or death certificate of your spouse).
- Proof of income (you and your spouse), an approved three-month bank statement.
- Proof of address (a utility statement with your name on it that’s not more the three-months old).
LAST PAYMENT DATES FOR THE YEAR
A reminder that applications for SASSA Child Support Grants in October 2025 take three months to processed. If you are unsuccessful, you may lodge an appeal with the DSD, also within three months.
