Bafana Bafana to play Brazil in November?

Bafana Bafana could play five-time FIFA World Cup winners Brazil during the November FIFA break.

According to reports, the Selecao are looking for African opposition as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Oppositions on their radar are Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia first and South Africa.

“According to reports out of Egypt, the Pharaohs have already turned down Brazil’s advances, creating a smaller pool of possible African opponents. That leaves Bafana in active discussions with the Brazilians, alongside Tunisia and Morocco, who are also being courted,” iDiski Times reported.

Bafana Bafana v Brazil; Will it happen?

Bafana Bafana’s next matches are against Zimbabwe and Rwanda as they look to wrap up the World Cup qualifiers. Their friendly matches for November are yet to be confirmed by South African Football Association (SAFA).

South Africa has played mostly African countries since Hugi Broos took over in 2021. The last time Bafana played a World Cup winning nation was against France three years ago which ended in a 5-0 defeat for Hugo Broos’ men.

Ironically, the last time Bafana faced Brazil, it also ended in a 5-0 defeat for the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations champions.
