The Democratic Alliance (DA) has announced Helen Zille as its mayoral candidate for the City of Johannesburg.
The 74-year-old, who is the party’s federal council chairperson, accepted the nomination on Saturday, 20 September.
Zille will represent the DA at the 2026 local government elections. The party described her as a “proven leader ready to rescue SA’s powerhouse and restore faith in the City’s future.”
