President Cyril Ramaphosa says a Commission of Inquiry will investigate the allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
The investigation relates to the infiltration of law enforcement intelligence and associated institutions within the criminal justice system by criminal syndicates.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) , the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), and the Metropolitan Police will be under investigation.
Ramaphosa said the commission will have three months to deliver an initial report on its findings.
