A brave Brit who proposed to Katy Perry on stage in London has been revealed to be a divorced dad-of-three.
He made the ultimate fan move when he popped the question at her concert – only to be turned down because she’s already dating the former prime minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.

In a video taken by ContactMusic, 50-year-old engineer Darren Trenchard from Hampshire seizes his moment at The O2 Arena, getting down on one knee in front of thousands of screaming fans.
The bold Brit, who’s been divorced for just over a year, was at the gig with his daughters Bethany, 16, Nicole, 22, and Sophie, 22, after they surprised him with tickets to see his idol.
“They bought me tickets as I was a big fan! I always joked that I was going to make Katy Perry my wife while they were growing up,” Darren told the Daily Mail.
“They got me on a dating app recently, and I joked I’ll ask Katy Perry out.
“On the day, I drew a big sign and folded it up in my pocket.
“I had no idea I’d be brought up on stage.
“When the spotlight came up, I ran to get to the stage on the off chance I make it to get a chance to go up.
“It was a bit of a risky move, but I thought I’d go down on one knee.
“I felt a bit embarrassed and nervous when I was up there, but she was lovely and we even had a little chat off the microphone.
“It was a great performance. She looked glamorous and great, and this made our night! Everyone’s talking about it.”
Sadly for Darren, Katy wasn’t free to mingle.
The singer, 40, recently went public with hunky politician Trudeau, 53, and she broke her silence on the romance at her show.
She made sure to let the crowd know she was off the market.
Responding to Darren’s proposal, Katy joked: “I wish you’d asked me 48 hours ago.”
Turning to the audience, she added: “London, England, you’re like this on a Monday night after a whole day at work and a whole day at school?
“No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time… but not anymore.”
But Darren says he has no regrets about his headline-making proposal.
“You only live once, never live life with regrets! Go for it!” he said.
Katy and Justin were spotted days ago kissing and cuddling aboard her 24-metre yacht, the Caravelle, off the coast of Santa Barbara, California.
The pair first fuelled dating speculation back in July, when they were seen having an intimate dinner at Le Violon restaurant in Montreal, just weeks after Katy announced her split from fiancé Orlando Bloom, 48.
Justin’s ex-wife Sophie, 50, has now shared a cryptic Instagram post about “letting go” of love.
“Sometimes we forget that nothing we love is ever meant to be kept,” she wrote.
“The people, the places, even the moments that once felt infinite, right?
“Time asks us not to cling to them, but yet we do. I do because to hold on feels safer than to let go.
“But, love was never about possession, it was always about presence.
“The present moment and when we release what we cannot keep, we make space for the truth of connection, intimacy, the memory, for the lesson.
“A single smile can echo across a lifetime, grief also lives there. I lost my dad in the past year, and I feel that with grief also comes grace.
“So maybe, love’s deepest teaching is this: to stand open-hearted in the face of impermanence. We honor what has been and to trust that letting go is also a form of keeping inside us where no loss can erase it in a way.”
Sophie split from Justin in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
They share three children, Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11.
Katy, who shares a five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, with Orlando, was previously married to comedian Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.
