SHAUN Murphy has won the British Open for the first time after a thrilling final in Cheltenham.
The Magician faced Anthony McGill in the showpiece match, which began with a tense opening session which finished 4-4.
As the final went on, Murphy grew the stronger of the two and secured a 10-7 win over the Scotsman.
