SHAUN MURPHY has won the British Open for the first time after a thrilling final.
The Magician faced world No57 Anthony McGill last night, who had made a shock run to the showpiece match and even raced into the lead.
But as the final went on, Murphy‘s superior level showed as he secured the £100,000 jackpot with a 10-7 win over the Scotsman.
The former world champion was the deserved winner after a horror draw that saw him come through close ties against Judd Trump and Neil Robertson.
