Cape Town provides new retail options for traffic fine payments

Traffic Services in the City of Cape Town recorded more than 2.7 million offences over the past year.

According to the City, these infractions range from speeding to running red lights and come with traffic fines that often frustrate motorists when it’s time to pay up.

Now, though, the City has made the process far simpler, thanks to a new payment system rolled out on 1 July.

Motorists can now settle their traffic fines through a variety of channels, including:

  • Driving Licence Testing Centres (DLTCs)
  • Online via www.paythat.co.za
  • Municipal cash offices
  • Retail store till points at participating outlets

And now, since July, payments can also be made at retail stores like Game, Massmart, Makro, Builder’s Warehouse, Jumbo, Pick n Pay, Boxer, and Kazang outlets.

“We have made it easier for those who want to do the right thing and pay their dues,” Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman Smith, said.
