THE singer of a chart-topping band has closed down his town centre bar after just two years.

Situated in Stockport’s historic and booming Underbanks, the bar was once a derelict space, now transformed into a sleek and sophisticated speakeasy-style cocktail den.

It was said to have been inspired by the owner’s experiences of bars they visited around the world during the band’s time touring.

Tom Ogden, the frontman and songwriter in the chart-topping indie band, and his wife Katie, opened cocktail bar Bohemian Arts Club in their hometown in May 2023.

Formed in 2013 Blossoms are named after another Stockport boozer, The Blossoms pub on Bramhall Lane.

Their self titled debut album which featured their breakthrough single Charlemange made it to number one on the UK Album Charts 2016.

The indie band supported Noel Gallagher and the High Flying Birds last year and were once rumoured to be the support act for this summer’s Oasis reunion tour.

Blossoms are playing themselves in new Netflix movie, Finding Emily, a rom com about a lovesick musician who’s given the wrong number for his dream girl and embarks on a mission to find her. It is set to be released in May 2026.

The couple’s two-floored bar sat above Bohemian salon, a boutique hairdresser’s, run by Katie.

In an update shared on their social media pages today (Sunday), the business said the bar would be closing its doors next month, with the ‘thriving’ salon to expand into the space. The bar’s last day of operation will be Friday, October 3.

“After an amazing 2½ years, we’re excited to share that the building is about to enter a brand-new chapter!” they said.

“With the salon thriving and in such high demand, Bohemian will be expanding upstairs into the two floors above.

“Although this means the bar will be closing, and this brings sadness, we also couldn’t be happier to see the space continue to flourish and evolve.

“It’s been such a joy to share weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and countless celebrations with you all—we’ll always treasure those memories.

“Our last service will be Friday 3rd October. For anyone with bookings after this date, we’ll be in touch to cancel—apologies for any inconvenience.

“Thank you so much for your love and support over the last couple of years. Here’s to the next chapter ahead, we can’t wait to show you all the new space! Katie, Tom and the team.”

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News when it opened in 2023, Kate said: “We’re from the area and we don’t think there’s anything like this in Stockport.”

“I’ve always wanted to open my own bar and salon and having visited cool speakeasies, tiny little bars and spaces, we knew exactly what style we wanted for our own.”

“Katie and I met and married in Stockport, it’s where everything started for the band, it’s our home town; the place means a lot to us” Tom said.

“It’s nice to do something in your own town and obviously we’ve always been big champions of Stockport, so it’s nice to play our part in putting it on the map – plus everyone around here is really sound” he added.
