KwaZulu-Natal can expect a cooler, cloudier start on Tuesday as a cold front moves across the country’s southern parts.
Forecaster Mpho Rasimphi said, “The system will bring a 30% chance of showers and rain, mainly along the coastal areas of KwaZulu-Natal.”
Durban is forecast to reach a high of 23°C, while Pietermaritzburg will peak around 25°C under cloudy skies.
Strong Coastal Winds in parts of KwaZulu-Natal
Coastal communities should prepare for stronger winds.
“We anticipate wind speeds reaching 55 kilometres per hour, with gusts of up to 65 kilometres along the coast,” Rasimphi warned.
The South African Weather Service has issued alerts for potentially damaging winds and waves, particularly between Durban and Richards Bay.
Residents urged to stay alert
Authorities have encouraged beachgoers and small boat operators to exercise caution due to the risk of dangerous waves. Inland, cooler weather may bring relief after recent heat, but rural areas remain vulnerable to runaway fires.
Minimum overnight temperatures are expected to drop to 15°C in Durban and 12°C in Ladysmith.
