US tariffs could mean good news for coffee lovers in South Africa.
As reported by BusinessTech, the latest trade tensions involving the United States may ease pressure on local coffee prices, at least in the short term.
This comes as South African consumers have been hit hard by rising coffee inflation, which surged to 16.4% in June, the sharpest jump in the beverages category.
While staples like rice, cereals, milk, and eggs have shown signs of price relief, coffee costs remain elevated due to global supply constraints, shipping costs, and production setbacks in major producing countries.
In light of this, The South African website compared coffee prices across 10 of South Africa’s most popular coffee chains.
The comparison highlights just how much consumers are paying for their caffeine fix.
For the comparison, we looked at the price of a “tall” Americano, Caffe Latte and Cappuccino.
