Crime Intel Head Khumalo falls ill before commission testimony

Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo, Divisional Commissioner for Crime Intelligence, fell ill on Wednesday morning upon arriving at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College, where he was due to continue his testimony before the Madlanga Commission.

National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola said Khumalo is receiving the best medical care, is in good spirits, and is following his physician’s advice.

Health takes priority as Khumalo receives medical care

Masemola said the commission is monitoring the General’s health.

“The General’s health is receiving priority, and the Madlanga Commission will be kept abreast of all developments regarding his condition as well as when he will be available to continue with his testimony,” Masemola said in a press statement.

Commissioner Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga confirmed the situation just as the commission was about to begin.

“He is not well. We as the commission have decided not to sit today,” Madlanga said.

Commission postpones proceedings

He added that the commission’s spokesperson, Jeremy Michaels, will announce a new date for proceedings in due course.
