Cyan Boujee, influencers banned on TikTok after human trafficking report

The TikTok accounts of South African media influencers, including Cyan Boujee, have been banned after members of the public reported their content for engaging in human trafficking.

This comes after the group of local content creators were paid to promote a work programme in Russia. The job offer – targeted at young girls – has been flagged by authorities for labour exploitation.

CYAN BOUJEE AND OTHER INFLUENCER ACCOUNTS BANNED ON TIKTOK

Barely a day after “apologising” for promoting an unverified Russian job programme, several influencers found that their TikTok accounts had been banned.

The group, which includes Cyan Boujee and Seemah, were reported for human exploitation, which provides for soliciting human trafficking.

On the X platform, several users revealed how they contributed to the accounts going to ground.

‘JUSTICE FOR CYAN’

In a since-deleted Instagram Story, Cyan Boujee called out the public for banning her TikTok account.

She said in a short clip: “Justice for Cyan. Justice for everyone.”

She added: “We didnt know. This is too much. South Africans are so negative”.

HOW LONG DO TIKTOK BANS LAST?

TikTok states that accounts can be banned for violating community guidelines, which prohibit violence, hate, and child sexual abuse or exploitation.

Some bans can last 24 hours, whilst in severe cases, others can be permanent, with TikTok reserving the right to suspend any other linked or future accounts.

In the case of SA influencers like Cyan Boujee, they can appeal the decision they feel is unjust.
