DD Mabuza’s family allegedly fights over R44.7M pension payout

The late Deputy President David “DD” Mabuza left a political legacy, yet his sudden death sparked major family disputes.

His R44.7 million pension payout has reportedly become the centre of a bitter legal battle involving close family members.

DD MABUZA’S DAUGHTER FILES URGENT HIGH COURT APPLICATION

The late Deputy President David “DD” Mabuza may have left a legacy in politics, but his family seems to be making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Mabuza passed away on 3 July 2025 and was laid to rest on 12 July 2025 in Barberton, Mpumalanga.

Investigative journalist Mzilikazi wa Afrika tweeted this morning that the family of the late leader is fighting over his R44.7 million pension payout.

Tamara Silinda, Mabuza’s daughter, has reportedly taken things to the next level by filing an urgent High Court application.

According to his tweet, Tamara is urgently trying to stop Alexander Forbes from paying the full pension to Nonhlanhla. Moreover, her court papers claim that her father was also married to her mother, Emunah Silinda, under customary law.

Consequently, Tamara argues she requires these funds to cover school fees, monthly allowance, and her accommodation expenses. Meanwhile, the legal matter is scheduled to be heard in court next Tuesday, drawing significant public and media attention.

Therefore, many eyes will be on the court’s decision regarding how the R44.7 million pension payout will be divided.

According to a death certificate shared by Mzilikazi wa Afrika, DD Mabuza was reportedly never legally married, adding another twist to the pension battle.
