Deontay Wilder announces boxing return and teases shock world title fight amid Anthony Joshua talks

DEONTAY WILDER has claimed he has signed a deal for his next fight – and teased a shock world title shot.

Wilder returned with victory in June in Kansas against little-known Tyrrell Herndon.

That followed after two consecutive defeats in Saudi Arabia – first to Joseph Parker and then Zhilei Zhang.

It saw him blow the chance of facing Anthony Joshua.

Wilder spent the day streaming with internet personality Neon – and revealed his next fight is set for the new year.

He said: “I do have something coming up. We’re looking in January. I’ve signed the contract already.

“I can’t [give] no details at this point, but it’s definitely live. It’s gonna happen. I got a big year next year, I’m looking forward to it.

“All I can say is two-time. Let’s go.”

Wilder’s quest to become a two-time champion suggests he could be in line for a title shot.

Oleksandr Usyk, 38, holds all four WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO world titles.

But he is currently out injured and insists he has just one more bout left in his career – meaning his belts could become vacated.

According to ESPN, Wilder, 39, is a potential opponent for Joshua, 35, to fight in the Brit’s return.

And Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel told BoxNation: “Our first choice always would be Joshua.

“But if we can’t get Joshua — if we could get (Oleksandr) Usyk, we’d fight him.

“I believe [a fight with Joshua] is the biggest fight for him. And it’s the fight of the last decade, hopefully it’s this one.

“[The fight is] not as big as it was, but it’s enormous. Enormous

“It would sell out any of the smaller arenas, and maybe with a good undercard, it could sell out a Wembley.”
