Did Kaizer Chiefs sign their Steven Gerrard?

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly completed the signing of former Port Vale midfielder Ethan Chislett.

The 26-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the option to extend with Amakhosi. Chislett is regarded as a talented player, capable of playing as a number 10, number 8, or as a wide midfielder, similar to former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

However, Kaizer Chiefs have yet to officially announce any new signings. The team will travel to the Netherlands next month for their pre-season training, where they are scheduled to play several friendly matches.

Who is this new Kaizer Chiefs signing?

Chislett was born in Durban but spent most of his life in England. His father, Donovan, had a career in the Premier Soccer League.

The 26-year-old spent the last two years with English club Port Vale where he made 68 appearances and scored 13 goals.

Renowned agent Mike Makaab described the new Kaizer Chiefs player as a ‘great engine’.

“I represented his father – he was a hard-working, steely type of player. But when I saw Ethan play, I watched a number of his games and highlights. Goodness me… “He has a great engine, but his technical ability, to pass, score goals, set-pieces, it’s absolutely phenomenal.”

The midfielder attracted the interest of Scottish Premiership outfit Motherwell and EFL League One team Wigan but the Durban-born playmaker opted to sign with Amakhosi.

Kaizer Chiefs have already parted ways with five players in recent weeks. With the players back from holiday, it is a matter of time before the club announces the new faces in the squad.

Do you think Chislett will deliver for Chiefs?
