DJ Warras murder case: Key CCTV footage goes missing

The bail application of Victor Majola, the man accused of murdering Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock, has been postponed to Thursday, 15 January as both the state and defence seek to resolve issues related to missing CCTV footage.

Majola faces charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit a crime following the fatal shooting of Stock outside a building in Johannesburg last month.

Provide security

At the time of his death, Stock’s security company had reportedly been contracted to provide security services at the premises.

During proceedings on Wednesday, the court heard that CCTV footage from a nearby butchery, which was expected to form part of the evidence, is no longer available.

Magistrate Annalise Tlhapi rolled the matter over to allow both parties additional time to address the issue before the bail application proceeds.

Will make a ruling

“The matter is rolled over until tomorrow for both the state and the defence,” Magistrate Tlhapi said.

“They still want to finalise on additions to what they have submitted to the court regarding the issue of the video footage, after which the court will make a ruling.”

The case is expected to resume on Thursday, when the court will consider the submissions relating to the missing footage before continuing with the bail proceedings.
