Drag icon Latrice Royale is coming to South Africa

If you were ever to look up the words “drag excellence” in the dictionary, chances are you will find a picture of Latrice Royale next to the definition.

A powerhouse drag performer from South Beach, Florida, who rose to fame on the fourth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Latrice won over viewers with her warmth, boldness, integrity and her undeniable talent.

Since then, she has cemented herself as a global drag icon, using her gift to both entertain the masses – including starring in the acclaimed drag makeover show, We’re Here, and her recent turn as Audrey II in a theatre production of Little Shop of Horrors – and to advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Now, Latrice is bringing her large and in charge, chunky yet funky, bold and beautiful self to South Africa next month!

This November, Latrice Royale will perform her one-queen show, “Terms and Conditions (May Vary)”, for two nights only.

She will grace the stage at the Barnyard Theatre at Tygervalley Shopping Centre, located in Bellville, Cape Town on Wednesday, 19 November 2025. Ticket prices start from R430 each.

Latrice will then bring her show-stopping performance to Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg on Friday, 21 November 2025. Ticket prices start from R275 each.

A MUST-SEE EXTRAVAGANZA

It’s been 13 years since Latrice Royale visited Mzansi, not long after she made waves with her appearance on Drag Race in 2012. Now, she’s excited “to reconnect” with her South African fans.

“I’m way overdue for another visit and performance in South Africa,” she said. “The energy, the love and the passion from South African audiences are unmatched. I’ve missed it so much, and I can’t wait to reconnect with everyone again!”

She added that the art of drag comes down to “celebrating who you are, no matter where you’re from. And South Africa has always shown me nothing but love. I’m so ready to give that love right back!”

“Terms and Conditions (May Vary)” promises live vocals, storytelling and “soul-shaking” lip-sync performances. Clearly, it’s an unmissable, glamorous extravaganza for fans of drag artistry.

Alongside her husband, pianist and vocalist Christopher Hamblin, Latrice Royale will be joined by three of South Africa’s hottest drag performers: Manila von Teez, Kat Gilardi and Stella Rosé.

“It’s an absolute honour to share the stage with a global icon like Latrice Royale,” Von Teez said. “She’s inspired so many of us to be fearless and authentic, so to see her perform live again in South Africa is going to be pure magic!”

Indeed it will, and we certainly can’t wait for November to get here soon enough.
