Dry wet washing inside with a 6p an hour gadget – it ‘dries clothes quickly’ & there’s no tumble dryer needed

CHILLY evenings will soon be upon us and that means it can be trickier to dry clothes quickly and thoroughly.

However, shoppers have been raving about a gadget which “dries clothes quickly” without a tumble dryer for just 6p an hour.

Amazon is selling a heated airer that could help dry clothes in winter[/caption]

Available on Amazon, the Black + Decker Heated Clothes Airer could be the perfect investment ahead of winter when cold air can leave items damp and clammy.

And the best news is it is currently discounted and is 31 per cent off.

You can pick up the heated clothes airer for £47.99, with it originally costing £69.99 – marking a saving of £22.

While it looks similar to traditional clothes horses, its metal bars are said to heat up quickly and easily during chilly months.

It also claims to be cheaper than a tumble dryer if you are looking to keep bills low ahead of Christmas.

Typically tumble dryers cost £1.50 each cycle, compared to 6.2 pence per hour for the airer.

This means that one tumble dryer cycle is around the same as using the airer for 24 hours straight.

The airer has 11.5 metres of space in total with a drying capacity of 10kg, and it can be folded away when not in use.

Many people have left five-star reviews on the product, with one saying: “Dries clothes quickly and you can fit a lot on it.”

Another added: “Value for money.”

And a third commented: “A great folding clothes drier which is very economical to run.”

If you thought you couldn’t dry your clothes outside in the winter, you’re not alone.

According to laundry expert Sarah Dempsey, it’s one of the most common misconceptions.

And she told how hanging your clothes outside in the colder months can actually be more effective than doing so in summer.

Sarah even revealed that heat isn’t the most important thing when it comes to drying clothes.

She also explained that air-drying your clothes is a more sustainable and cost-effective alternative to the tumble dryer, saving you money on your energy bills.

And it will even but it’ll also extend the life of your clothes, with a tumble dryer being the enemy for many knit materials.

She said: “While heat is a very helpful tool for drying clothes, it’s not the only factor that goes into drying clothes.

“High levels of humidity in the air can result in longer drying time so, in some cases, you may find that your clothes dry much more quickly on a cold winter’s day than they would on a humid summer day.

“Solar radiation is the most effective method of evaporating the moisture in your clothes.

“Where possible, hang your clothes out in the sunshine for the best method of drying.”
