The No10 Man Utd-style shirt was an apparent reference to his ten-year-old victims Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman

They were both wearing United tops when murdered by Huntley in Soham, Cambridgeshire in 2002.

Officers at HMP Frankland, Co Durham, seized the top and Huntley, who is serving life, had his status reduced to a “standard” jail regime.

He has now been moved back to the “enhanced” level, with privileges including an Xbox games console, extra canteen cash, longer visits and more time in the gym.

A source said: “Huntley is happy as Larry again, despite what he’s done — and it’s pretty outrageous.

“Some of the staff and other inmates are angry about it and see his treatment as a bit of a joke.

“It makes a mockery out of the incentives scheme, and it usually takes inmates months to get back up to enhanced.

“He is able to sit around watching TV and playing his Xbox.

“These treats make a huge difference to a prisoner but it is sickening that Huntley is so smug about it.”

The Prison Service did not comment.
