The Springboks are well poised to successfully defend their Rugby Championship title.
The Springboks are in a prime position to win the 2025 Rugby Championship.
They currently sit in second position in the latest updated Rugby Championship standings. However, with two games to go, my money is on the Springboks. So, here’s what they need to do to successfully defend their Rugby Championship title in 2025.
WHAT THE SPRINGBOKS NEED TO DO TO WIN THE RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP
The Wallabies lead the way with 11 points from four matches. Meanwhile, the Springboks and All Blacks are tied on 10 points. The Boks are in second spot due to a superior points differential over New Zealand.
Finally, Argentina is close behind on 9 points.
Meaning, just two points separate the four Southern Hemisphere giants in the Rugby Championship.
For the Springboks to WIN the Rugby Championship, they must win BOTH matches against Argentina and hope that Australia loses one of their two matches against the All Blacks.
This is very likely given the fact that the first test between the All Blacks and Wallabies is at Eden Park. The fortress New Zealand has not lost in over 30 years. Meanwhile, the All Blacks will be out to prove a point following the biggest loss in their history against the Springboks in Wellington (43-10).
The first Test between the Boks and Los Pumas is on 27 September 2025 in Durban. Before closing off their campaign in a rematch against Argentina in London on 4 October.
DO YOU THINK THE BOKS WILL SUCCESSFULLY DEFEND THEIR RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE?
