Fog and light rain expected in parts of KwaZulu-Natal

KwaZulu-Natal residents can expect changing weather patterns, with fog patches, reduced visibility, and light rain across several parts of the province. The South African Weather Service has urged motorists and residents to take precautions as cooler temperatures and patchy conditions move through the region.

Forecaster Mpho Rasimphi said that early morning fog is likely to stretch across KwaZulu-Natal and into parts of the Eastern Cape. “We are expecting morning fog patches in KwaZulu-Natal, extending into the interior areas of the Eastern Cape, which means that visibility will be reduced,” he explained.

Rasimphi advised drivers to exercise caution on the roads, especially during early commutes or overnight travel. “Please be careful, especially those who will be on the road overnight. Fog and wet surfaces can make driving conditions difficult,” he said.

Morning fog, mild rain and moderate temperatures

While the fog poses visibility risks, light rain and cloudy conditions will also dominate parts of the province.

“It’s like spitting in some rainy conditions,” Rasimphi said, referring to the scattered rain expected over KwaZulu-Natal.

Temperatures are expected to remain moderate, with daytime highs around 25°C to 27°C along the coast and slightly cooler conditions inland. Durban and surrounding coastal areas are likely to remain warm and humid, while the Midlands may experience cooler nights.

Safety reminders and weather outlook

The South African Weather Service warned that slippery roads and reduced visibility could increase travel risks. Rasimphi emphasised that “fog and light rain can lead to minor disruptions, including slower traffic flow and potential delays for motorists.”
