If you don’t know their personal taste too well, then chances are the safest bet is to buy a gift card so that they can choose exactly what they’d like.

And let’s face it, during a hard day at work, a voucher from a coffee shop so they can get that much-needed caffeine boost is likely a good shout.
But if you’re worried that handing over an envelope looks like you’ve put in zero effort, then you may just want to listen up!
That’s because a DIY whizz has revealed a super simple way to turn a boring gift card voucher into a very impressive snow globe – just in time for the festive season.
And perhaps the best part of all? It costs just £1 thanks to a bargain buy from The Works.
In the clip posted to TikTok, the savvy woman, who goes by @the.gift.oracle, explains: “Always looking for ways to jazz up gifting a gift card, and we found the perfect way to gift a coffee gift card.
“We saw the clear coffee cups and thought, actually, they’d make a really great vessel for this gift.”
She then goes on to say how she thought she could turn it into a snow globe to give them a “really fun Christmassy theme.”
The social media user, who uses her platform to show how you can create elevated, budget-friendly gifts all year round, goes on to say how she spotted a big bag of fake snow from The Works, which was an “absolute bargain” at just £1.
She also picked up some little bristle Christmas trees which she thought would make the perfect addition.
“Actually putting them all together inside the cup really does make it look like a snow globe,” she says, demonstrating as she goes along.
To finish the look, she then wraps it all up in cellophane and adds a red velvet vibe.
“We think this is a really fun, enjoyable way that’s a little bit different to gift a coffee gift card,” she says.
Alongside the post, the DIY fan summarised: “We love looking for ways to elevate gifting a gift card and we think we’ve found the best way to do this if you want to gift someone a coffee gift card.
How to save money on Christmas shopping
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.
Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.
Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.
Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.
Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.
Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.
Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.
Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.
They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
“Using a clear coffee cup makes the perfect vessel and adding the fake snow and bristle brush tree give a little nod to Christmas.”
The post has since gone viral, racking up a whopping 87k views and several comments from very impressed social media users.
“Absolutely love this!! Can you do more gift card option ideas,” asked one person.
A second enthused: “Will be doing this for the teachers this year!”
A third noted: “We always do this for teacher gifts! Such a fab idea and always well-appreciated!”
Meanwhile, a fourth branded the idea “genius,” with another adding: “Such a great idea!”
