Zitha Kwinika‘s future at Kaizer Chiefs appeared to be coming to an end last season after getting overlooked by Nasreddine Nabi.
The 31-year-old centre-back was a forgotten man until Rushwin Dortley’s injury opened a door for him. With Miguel Inacio missing several matches due to suspension, it was between Kwinika, Given Msimango and Happy Mashiane to impress the Tunisian coach.
Kwinika took the opportunity with both hands and become reliable at the back. Although he managed just five league appearances, he did enough to keep himself at Kaizer Chiefs for another season.
“Zitha is a soldier of this club and everything we have noticed about him, is when he was not playing, when he was out of the squad, he never complained, his performances at training was very good, the respect he had for the technical staff and management and other players, even after not playing, he delivered when called upon,” Nabi said on the defender.
Kwinika impresses at Chiefs
“That is where you see someone who is meant to be a captain, he is meant to be a leader, everyone respects him so much here because of his attitude, because of the way he conducts himself and it’s very good to have that kind of player – before a player is he a true gentleman and we’re happy to have him here,” he said as per iDiski Times.
Kwinika has played three matches so far this season and it he is Nabi’s go to man if Chiefs want to close shop.
