THE UK’s biggest toy chain is set to open its first-ever discounted outlet store, with deals on LEGO, Barbie, and Paw Patrol, among other brands.

The new 2000 sq. ft outlet will stock an exclusive range of toys and games, available to buy in-store from Saturday October 4.

Located at Dalton Park Outlet – the North East’s largest outlet shopping destination – the new store will join a host of other leading brands including M&S, Next and Adidas.

To mark the opening day, Paw Patrol’s Marshall will be heading in-store from 10am-3pm to delight fans of all ages with “paw-some” photo opportunities.

Plus, The Entertainer is offering an opportunity to win a trolley dash experience.

The once-in-a-lifetime experience will give one lucky shopper the chance to fill their trolley with as many toys as possible within one minute, to take home for free.

Customers wanting to take part will need enter before 23.59pm on September 28 by visiting thetoyshop.com/dalton-park-trolley-dash.

The Entertainer said the discounts will vary between products and brands.

However, outlet stores tend to offer up to 70% off the usual prices.

Other outlet stores for retailers like M&S and Dunelm, for example, are offering up to 70% discounts on furniture and clothing, with stores also located in Dalton Park.

The opening of The Entertainer’s new store comes just in time for Christmas, creating full time and part time roles for the local area, with additional temporary positions expected ahead of the festive period.

It follows The Entertainer’s recent partnership with British Garden Centres to open branded toy concessions in stores across the country, as well as the roll out to Tesco and Tesco Express stores across the UK.

Andrew Murphy OBE, group chief executive officer of The Entertainer, said: “As the UK’s largest toy retailer, we’re delighted to be able to offer our customers even better value across the toys, games, puzzles and collectibles that they love.

“We can’t wait to welcome customers to our new outlet store – which we hope will be just the first in a series of outlet openings as we finish the year on a high.”

Richard Kaye, centre manager at Dalton Park, said: “We’re delighted that The Entertainer has chosen Dalton Park as the renowned toy retailer’s very first outlet location.

“With the festive season fast approaching, the opening couldn’t come at a better time, and we’re confident it will be a hugely popular addition for shoppers looking for the perfect gifts for their loved ones.”

Top toys for Christmas

Earlier this month, Argos revealed its top 20 toys for Christmas this year.

Prices range from £10 to £89.99 and are available online at Argos.co.uk or in-store.

Toys that bring popular TV and family characters to life dominate this year’s list.

For example, a Gui Gui Create and Collect Slime kit is the cheapest toy on offer, at just £10.

Meanwhile, Fat Brain Toys Air Toobz is the most expensive one on the list, at £140.

To make sure you’re getting the best price available on the market, don’t forget to use comparison sites such as Pricespy.co.uk and CamelCamelCamel.

Another helpful site, PriceHistory.co.uk, will be able to let you know if Argos has ever stocked the same toys for less.

Prices can also vary depending on the day and the deals available at the time.

How to save money on Christmas shopping

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.

Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.

Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.

Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.

Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.

Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.

Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.

Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.

They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
