It starred Hollywood favourites Matt Bomer, who played Jerry Frank, Nathan Lane, who portrayed Bunny Schneiderman and Nathan Lee Graham, who starred as Arthur Broussard.

The show’s co-creator Max Mutchnick announced the sad news in an Instagram post as he thanked fans for their support.

Alongside a photo of the show’s main cast and creatives, he wrote: “Ten great episodes… Not enough.

“But we loved making every single one of them.

“We’re gonna miss our very special show. Thanks to everyone who watched.”

The series was from Will & Grace creators Mutchnick and David Kohan and Ryan Murphy.

The series also starred Linda Lavin, who played Sybil Schneiderman. It was her final role before her death in December.

Fans have been left heartbroken by the decision and have threatened to cancel their Hulu subscription.

One wrote: “You get some of the best gay talent around (including NATHAN F***ING LANE), get a gay Golden Girls concept that works…and then you throw it in the trash after one season. SO glad I got rid of my Hulu account.”

A second posted: “This is a great show. Great audience. Great actors. Feels like Golden Girls came alive again but in a very new authentic queer form.”

A third said: “There are hundreds of crap [shows] on all streaming platforms and these beautiful stories are ending. Not acceptable.”

This person fumed: “What is wrong with Hulu? Another reason to cancel my subscription.”

Someone else hit out at Hulu’s owner Disney for making a “lousy decision” and said the series deserved “multiple seasons”.

The series followed three gay friends of a certain age as they decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs, where the wealthiest one lives with his mother.

The series first launched in 2024 and received positive reviews from critics.
