SOME people spend hundreds, and even thousands, of pounds trying to find the perfect piece of wall art for their home.
But one woman has shown how she cleverly used an 83p IKEA buy to transform a blank canvas into something that looks like it’s fresh out of Ideal Home magazine.

And the best bit? You don’t even need to be crafty to do it yourself.
The interior design whizz took to her TikTok page to share a video showing her home hack, which used a £2.50 pack of HEAT pot stands from the Swedish superstore.
Getting a blank canvas, she carefully began to place the mats onto the surface – some of which were whole and some of which she’d split in half.
She was seen cleverly arranging the pieces in a stylish geometric pattern, before securing them into place and painting the whole thing white.
To finish, she used some lengths of wood to create a ‘frame’ – before showing how stylish the piece looked hung on her wall.
“A 1.5m x 1m painting for less than £18 (€20)!” she captioned her TikTok.
“Thank you, IKEA, for these cork coasters, which were repurposed to create this superb painting.”
And the comments section was immediately filled with people weighing in on the unique creation, with one writing: “Great job – I’m going to copy that!”
“Brilliant idea,” another added.
“This would be a great activity with children,” a third pointed out.
“So cute!” someone else praised.
“Do the coasters need to be primed first?” another asked.
To which the woman replied: “No, not at all.
“Simply cut how you want.”
While others shared their own similar creations with the cork boards – and the smaller cork coasters too.
“Thank you for the great idea,” one wrote, showing how they’d used the coasters to create a framed picture on a smaller scale.

“What I did,” another added, alongside a picture of a heart-shaped design on their wall.
In their case, they appeared to have opted to stick the boards directly onto the wall in a chequered heart shape – using cut pieces to form the outside of the image.
“Awesome!” another praised.
