She took to Instagram to share a look at the dress in question, as she revealed she spotted it in a specific section of the store.
“It was tucked away in the Halloween section and the moment I saw it, my jaw dropped,” she said, showing off the bell-sleeved white gown with crochet and pink ribbon detailing.
“Everything about it felt so special,” she added.
Madalynne wasn’t initially sure whether or not she’d wear the dress for the wedding itself, but as the big day approached, she said it “just felt right”.
“The morning of (the wedding), I ran to Walmart with my little sisters and picked out the softest silky pale pink granny panties to wear underneath,” she said, adding she wanted to “keep it sweet” beneath the see through panels.
“It all came together perfectly,” she concluded.
The comments section was immediately flooded with people gushing about Madalynne’s dress, and how amazing it looked on her.
“How dreamy!!!” one wrote.
“This dress was made for you!” another added.
“I wasn’t convinced when I saw it on the hanger, but on you it is stunning!”
“I cannot picture a more perfect dress for you on this day,” a third said.
“You truly had vision with this and it makes me so happy seeing a vintage dress used on such a momentous occasion.
“You look stunning!”
“It’s so beautiful – that some of our fondest memories are made in pieces that someone somewhere decided to give away,” someone else commented.
“It may be the only piece like that to exist and it found its way to you, and your grandkids will see pictures of them one day.”
“YES! We should normalise getting married in something with a past— like a vintage designer or a secondhand gem, so we can actually look forward to the whole thing,” another wrote.
How to pick the perfect wedding dress

Wedding season is in full swing, but when it comes to picking your perfect dress, most new brides-to-be probably feel a bit clueless.
As someone who’s tying the knot in August 2024, Josie Griffiths, deputy digital Fabulous editor and bride-to-be, has shared her top tips…
- Give yourself time – unless you’re a sample size, dresses can take months to even arrive. Don’t stress yourself out by looking too late, in my opinion dress shopping should be the second thing on your list, right after finding a venue.
- Visit multiple shops – you don’t want to be buying on your first visit.
- But not too many – like a f***boy who can’t stop swiping on Tinder, having too much choice isn’t going to help you find The One.
- Take people with you – women who will be honest but also hype you up, unlike the mean relatives on Say Yes To The Dress, and ideally people from different areas of your life who won’t automatically say the same thing. I shopped with my mum and two best friends, who didn’t know each other and had different styles.
- Think it over – I returned to the shop before making my final decision on the dress I chose, re-trying it with my second favourite to make sure I was certain. It’s an expensive purchase, and you can’t send it back like you might your next Asos order, so take time to mull it over.
“On the hanger I thought it was not cute at all then when I saw it on you…. STUNNING!” someone else said.
“Oh my gosh you brought that dress literally to life,” another commented.
“So beautiful!”
