Iconic Sea Point building sold

The landmark Regent Building on Sea Point’s bustling Regent Road has officially changed hands in a major R150 million property deal.

The building, which stands seven storeys and 5 434m², is poised for a dramatic transformation under the new ownership of Quorum Holdings.

Strategically located opposite the Mojo Market, the Regent Building sits in one of the Mother City’s most vibrant and valuable strips, making it a coveted asset in the commercial and residential sectors alike.

Mixed-Use Development Incoming

Quorum Holdings, known for notable projects such as Lady Backs (60 apartments on the same street), The Valour in De Waterkant, and Charlie & The Chairman in the CBD, is expected to redevelop the property into a modern mixed-use space.

While official plans have not yet been released, the developer’s track record suggests a blend of upscale residential, retail, and possibly hospitality offerings.

“This acquisition fits perfectly with our long-term strategy of revitalising prime urban areas,” said property broker Ash Muller, noting market excitement around the purchase.

The property’s close proximity to the beach, restaurants, nightlife, and public transport makes it ideal for both residential and commercial tenants.

Impact on the Local Market

The sale and upcoming redevelopment signal renewed investor confidence in Sea Point, one of Cape Town’s most dynamic and rapidly evolving suburbs.

With tourism rebounding and the demand for well-located urban living on the rise, stakeholders are optimistic the new project will:

  • Boost local employment
  • Increase property values
  • Drive foot traffic to surrounding businesses
  • Enhance the visual appeal of the precinct

What’s Next?

While Quorum Holdings has yet to unveil detailed redevelopment plans, residents and real estate watchers can expect an innovative upgrade that merges lifestyle, convenience, and design -characteristics that define the company’s prior projects.

With the Competition Commission’s green light, redevelopment activities could begin soon, further energising Sea Point’s upward property momentum.
