Back in January 2022, Ellie knew she had to make some changes to her weight.
Her and her husband Rhys, 30, decided it was something they would do together, after years of disordered eating had led their weights to swell.
The couple decided to fly to Turkey to have a gastric sleeve fitted – weight loss surgery that removes a large portion of the stomach, leaving a smaller, tube-shaped pouch – and between them they managed to shed 24 stone.
Ellie, from East Midlands, now weighs 11st, while Rhys dropped from 26st to 14st 5lbs.
They then flew back to Turkey for a “couple’s tummy tuck”, spending a total of £20,000 funding their new, healthier bodies.
Ellie said: “We put buying a house on hold because, by this point, we were desperate to lose weight.
“Anything we had saved in the bank needed to be used to save our lives.”
While some people are quick to say the couple have cheated, Ellie said nobody understands the mental side of having the surgery.
She continued: “We’ve had to completely change the way we think about food.
“A lot of work has gone into becoming who we are today – the surgery was just the beginning.
“We track our calories daily and work extremely hard to maintain our weight and stay healthy.
“Our results have been incredible.
“Losing weight is the best thing we have ever done.
“We are both over the moon, feeling very active and ready to do life!”
Ellie shared her dramatic transformation online – and millions of users have commented on her likeness to Barbie star Margot Robbie.
Following a trend on TikTok where users show off their celebrity lookalikes, Ellie posted a picture of herself before losing weight, saying: “Kylie, make me pretty like you.”

What is gastric sleeve surgery?
Gastric sleeve surgery, or sleeve gastrectomy, is a weight loss surgery where a large portion (about 70-85 per cent) of the stomach is removed, reducing its size to a narrow tube or sleeve to limit food intake and control appetite.
This restriction helps patients feel full sooner, promoting weight loss by decreasing the amount of food they can eat and reducing hunger-inducing hormone production.
To be considered for weight loss surgery, including a gastric sleeve, on the NHS, you must meet strict criteria:
High BMI: You need a BMI of 40 or more.
Obesity-related condition: You can be eligible with a BMI between 35 and 40 if you have a condition that may improve with weight loss, such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, asthma, or breathing problems.
Tried other treatments: You must have already tried non-surgical weight loss methods for at least 12 months, such as diet, exercise, medication, or specialist programmes.
Commitment to lifestyle changes: You must be willing to make long-term changes to your diet and lifestyle and attend regular follow-up appointments after the surgery.
Overall health: You should not have other health problems that would make surgery too risky or pose difficulties in recovery.
The NHS doesn’t approve clinics for gastric sleeve surgery abroad but strongly advises patients to use the NHS Treatment Abroad checklist
