‘I’m useless, absolutely useless’ – Lewis Hamilton after another bad Qualifying

Seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton says Ferrari “probably needs to change a driver” after another bad Qualifying.

The 40-year-old Brit, who joined the Scuderia last year, had found it difficult to adjust since his first race with the team in March. After 13 rounds, Hamilton has not finished higher than fourth and is being outpaced by teammate Charles Leclerc.

At the end of Qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, the seven-time world champion cut a dejected figure after dropping out in Q2 while Leclerc took pole position.

Lewis Hamilton fails to make Q3

“It’s me every time. I’m useless, absolutely useless. Team’s not the problem, can see the other car on pole. Team probably needs to change driver,” he said.

During Free Practice, Lewis Hamilton was often in the top four as it looked like the Ferrari had the pace to challenge McLaren. It proved to be the case with Charles as he managed to put a lap together to take pole.

Hamilton’s Q2 exit in Hungary follows on from a Q1 elimination last time out at the Belgian Grand Prix, though he managed to recover from a subsequent pit lane start to finish seventh in the race and win Driver of the Day.

Some F1 fans believe age has caught up with Lewis Hamilton, and moving to Ferrari at 40 might not have been the best decision. Despite his Chinese Sprint win, the Brit has not qualified in the top three of even finished on the podium this season.

Should Hamilton retire at the end of the season?
